My name is Thaddeus Porter and I am seventeen (17) years old. I am 6'1 and my weight is 165 lbs. I am currently participating in speed and conditioning training with Coach Alex of Performance Warehouse. I would love to attend a College or University in Alabama due to the fact that I would like to stay close to home, but I would be willing to attend a College out of state if a scholarship were on the table. D1 is preferred, but of course, any college offering a scholarship in my degree program is one I would gladly accept. Track is not the only important factor in choosing my college; I would need the college to have either the field of Architecture or Engineering.
I feel that I would be a strong asset to any team because of my dedication to school, running and because of my ability to always come to practice ready to work hard.
My parents have instilled in me an understanding about how important academics are in life. In the seventh grade, I was accepted into Floyd Middle Magnet, a math and science magnet program here in Montgomery, Al., and I have been in the magnet program ever since. My current academic standing in school is indicative of my desire to be a champion in the classroom and on the track. I started running track when I was six for the Montgomery YMCA team, and sense then I've grown as a competitor - winning medals at state for my High School and at Nationals with my city's track club. My father always tells me that, "You can't do what others do and expect to be the best," so I am always willing to go that extra mile at practice. I promise to give 100% to you and your team. Thank you for your time.
