Personal Statement

My name is Camden Mazzoni and I am from East Dennis, Massachusetts. I am a biracial sophomore at Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School and will graduate in 2017. While tracking to graduate no. 1 in my class with a honors and AP course load, I spend the majority of my free time training for and playing tennis.  I also play the alto saxophone and until just recently, played ice hockey.  I am looking for a college that values scholar-athletes. Right now, I think I would like to become a doctor. So, ideally, I would like to attend a college that is highly competitive in both academics and tennis.  I have numerous accomplishments in both areas:

Tennis:

  • Winner: Doubles; Regional National Championship 16 & under Level 4, Longmeadow, MA
  • Finalist: Doubles; 16 & under Level 4, Longmeadow, MA
  • Winner: Doubles; Winter Sectional Championship 16 & under Level 3; Longmeadow, MA
  • Finalist:  Singles; Winter Sectional Championship 16 & under Level 3; Kingston, MA
  • Selected for New England Zonal Team 16 & under,  St. Louis, MO
  • Ranked #1 in New England, 14 & under
  • Winner:  Singles; New England Clay Court Championship- 14 & under Level 5; Beverly, MA
  • Winner: Doubles: New England Clay Court Championship- 14 & under Level 5; Beverly, MA
  • Finalist: Doubles; USTA Regional National Tournament Segment- 14 & under Level ?; West Hartford, CT
  • Winner: USTA National Doubles Championships in Corona Park - 14 & under Level 4, Bronx, NY
  • Selected for New England Zonal Team for 14 & under; Kalamazoo, MI;
  • Finalist:  Singles; New England Sectional Championships 12 & under Level 3, New Haven, CT
  • Finalist:  Doubles; New England Sectionals Championship 12 & under Level 3, New Haven, CT
  • Selected for New England Zonal team for 12 & under; Penn State University
  • Winner: Singles; 12 & under level 5; Nashua, NH

Academically:

  • Achieved high honors every semester
  •  #1 in my class; 4.0+ gpa
  • course load- all honors
  • won the Henry Boles Citizenship Award
  • member of the Math Team
  • 1 of 4 students selected  freshman year to take an online elective course of my choosing
  • 1 of 4 students chosen freshman year to intern in an area of interest

I am competitive in the classroom and on the tennis court.  My teachers say I am a pleasure to have in their classrooms.  My tennis coaches enjoy working with me because I seem to grasp new concepts well and am not afraid to incorporate something new into my game strategy.  I have a very calm and focused demeanor. I am at my best when I am busy. I realize the focus of college will be my area of study, but I love tennis and want nothing more than to play at the highest level possible.

By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
