Luis Montes Jr. '12 Recruiting Profile

I am Luis E. Montes, Rising Senior (Class of 2012) from Marist High school in Puerto Rico. I am 16 years old, 5'10" high and weight 135 pounds. I began playing tennis at the age of 11 after 7 years of practicing baseball at various levels and practicing various sports at school such as basketball, volleyball, cross country running and bowling. It became love at first time for me with the sport. I just loved the combination of various skills and the individuality involved in the sport, although later I learned that it could also involve a lot of team playing and spirit. Known by my coaches as a very competitive player, when I played baseball one of them once said: "Present me 12 players like Luis and I will present you a competitive team."  I have been up to a 2 Stars  recruit in Tennisrecruiting.net.  Although I have participated in players' selections representing Puerto Rico in tennis, like when I was selected to participate in the JITIC 2008 14's and Under (ITF sponsored tournament played in Monterey, Mx) my biggest achievements so far have been being selected for the Puerto Rico Junior Davis Cup pre-selection 16 and under(although did not made final cut) and being selected to the USTA Caribbean Section to participate in the USTA Zonal Tournaments 16 and under which took place on July 2010 in Winstom Salem, NC. Since some of my favorites courses include science and mathematics I look forward to continue Biochemestry or Biomedical Engineering studies at the University. Currently I am maintaining an honor GPA of 3.71 and my schedule include various honor courses such as Spanish and English.  Currently I present a 1,140 result in my SAT's (Math + C. Reading). Coming from an Hispanic country I will like to attend an university which valuates diversity with a slight preference for colleges at the east, and southeast regions mostly due to travel facility from/to my home land. In summary, I is my dream to play tennis for my alma mater's tennis team at the same time I educate myself for life and become a accomplished human being. The best way to describe my athletic goal is to become part of a Team. I am sure you coaches know what that requires and mean. It means keeping the same mindset inside or outside the court by supporting your team mates and being ready to contribute anytime your coach calls you inside the lines.
