I can be a great Swimmer. I have always applied myself to any challenges that have been presented to me. The possibility of swimming in college presents an opportunity for me to further apply my dedication to swimming, academics, and leadership at the next level. I have always believed in setting goals. In eighth grade I set my first major goal of swimming in college. This goal has evolved into the desire to swim for a premier university that excels in Swimming, Academics, and Leadership. As of now, my ultimate goal is to qualify for the 2016 Olympic Trials. I still have much room for improvement. I can drop significant amounts of time through physical growth and improvement of my technique, starts, underwaters, turns, etc.
I can be a great Student. I have never shied away from difficult classes for the opportunity of simply getting a better grade. Academic excellence means not only getting good grades, but challenging myself to do my best under the toughest circumstances. My standardized test scores are the true testament to my knowledge. I know that swimming will not be my career in life, so it is important that I challenge myself to learn as much as possible. Again, this does not mean just memorizing facts and statistics, but learning from experiences and discovering the applications of everything I know.
I can be a great Leader. When Brett Favre was asked what the most important part of his legacy was, he responded that, above all, he hoped for everyone to remember him as a great teammate. I too strive to be the person that everyone sees as a great teammate, but also as a leader-- I lead by example whether this be in the pool, in the classroom, community, or amongst my peers. I do not drink or do drugs of any kind. To exercise my leadership qualities, I am an active member of Student Council, Future Business Leaders of America, and the National Honor Society.
