Hi, and thanks for checking out my profile!
I'll be graduating from Landstown HS in June 2017, and am actively looking to identify colleges that are a good fit for me both academically and athletically. I'm not 100% certain of what my major will be, but I know what it won't be, so I'm narrowing it down. Right now I'm leaning toward business management. I'm a little different from the typical swimmer in a few ways. First, I didn't get started in the sport until my sophomore year of high school. I had never swum competitively, but I made the HS varsity team that first year. I learned a lot and worked really hard at becoming a better swimmer. In the spring of 2015, I joined ODAC so I could focus on swimming year-round, and I also started working as an oceanfront lifeguard that summer.
Swimming is very important to me. It’s my passion, and along with academics, it’s my top priority. I’m fully committed to the sport and doing my absolute best. Most people don’t understand why I would put such intense effort into a sport that I’m basically brand new to. I do it because I love it.
It’s awesome when I see my times drop, and they’ve dropped a lot. I think I can become an even better swimmer, so I’m always trying to improve. It still seems a little crazy to me when people talk about how amazing my results are, but I guess if you look at where I started, and how far I’ve come, it is pretty cool. In the fall of 2016. I was moved up to my year-round team’s high performance group after being within a few seconds of senior championship cuts, and despite being so “raw” in the water. I have made many changes to the way I swim and am more than willing to make future changes.
My goals for college begin with exceling in both swimming and academics. I’m a dedicated, teachable and hard-working team player. I’m looking for a college program that can help me to achieve my full potential, and where I can do the same for my team.
