Personal Statement

When I was six, my dad's work friend introduced the sport of swimming to him, which led to him introducing it to me.  From there, I've trained in a "garage" pool, watch the most decorative Olympian ever, and grew to love the sport. However, recently my swimming career hit a speed bump as the coach and team we rent the pool from has created a new team and pushed our U.S.A. team out of some of the practice time, causing our practice time to be limited.  Dispite this, in the past ten years of swimming, I've learned that pain is no stranger and that I'm most comfortable, uncomfortable.   Furthermore, my goal since I was little was to be an Olympian, and it still is today.  My vision is to be accepted to a college that will make me successful academically as well as continuing to improve my swimming and getting faster to compete at the most competitive level.  I plan to juggle studying engineering and swimming and be successful at both.  As a multisport athete and team captain, I feel I'm a good canidate for the team because I won't give up until the task at hand is completed to the best of my ability.  I'm different from other recruits because my goal is to succeed in the classroom and in the pool at the same time, and I know I can do that for your team!

  • The first meet of the season was held at an outdoor pool. We had only practiced in a LC pool 3 times. On Friday night, I won the Iron Man award at this Damon McCoy meet in Shreveport, La. Swimming the 400 IM and the mile in the same night, with the combined fasted time, gave me this award for the second straight year. I also ended the meet as the top point winner in the 15 and older boys division.
  • 2016 Champion Aquatic Team
  • These times are for an outdoor LCM meet. On Friday night, an Iron Man award is given for those men who swim both the 400 IM and the 1500 Meter freestyle events. These events are both swam on Friday night. The athlete who, when you add the two times together has the fastest time, is awarded the Iron Man award. This year I won this award for my times in these events. This meet was held June 10-12, 2016

Training

  • 10-16 hours / week during school year, approximately 20 hours / week during the summer.
  • 10 years
  • I have not lifted weights. My team has limited pool space. We rent a 6 lane 25 yard pool. I train at this facility year round. There are times during the year that we swim twice per day. In the summer, we are able to swim in an outdoor LC pool 45 minutes from home. We swim there in the am from 5:15-7:45am for 7-9 weeks depending on how the meets fall. During this time we also swim 4 afternoons and on Saturday mornings at our pool. This year, the coach we rent our pool from is limiting our pool time, so we swim 4:45 A.M. - 6:45 A.M. every morning except Thursday and then Saturday morning 7am-9am.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
