I started swimming my freshman year of high school, so I am just now beginning my fourth year of competitive swimming. When I decided to become a competitive swimmer, I was unsure of what to expect, but I knew that it would not be easy. I just knew that I was willing to work hard enough to become the best swimmer I could be, whether or not that meant eventually competing at the college level or just having a competitive career in high school. During my first three years of swimming I have consistently dropped time in each season. I have learned that swimming is a sport that gives back what you put into it, and I believe I have many more milestones to still achieve. I have also learned that the discipline required to be a competitive swimmer can be applied to success in school. I began my high school career as a very mediocre student, and my overall GPA is not near as strong as I would like it to be. However, my grades have improved over the last three grading periods, and I achieved a 3.5 in the last period. I am committed to continued improvement in the classroom that will result in academic success in college, and I am confident that I can be a successful swimmer at the college level as well.
