Roman DeAngelis '14 Recruiting Profile

The Olympics in Beijing started on my 13th birthday 08-08-08.  I asked my parents "when I turn 16 can I have a Ford Mustang?"  My dad gave me a goal and replied "make all A's & B's AND break a high school record then you can have a Mustang!"  It was that day I realized that swimming was my sport, my passion.  I remember breaking 30 in the 50Y Free for the first time that year and thinking "drop 10 more seconds and I'm the next Lezak!!!"  Doesn't every swimmer want to win an Olympic Gold Medal???

I have been swimming for the Jenks Trojan Swim Club since 2007.  My club coach, Diego Henao - Olympian swimmer for Venezuela in Atlanta 1996, has pushed me as hard as any coach can...and I love it!  I have won the "Boys High Point Total Award" every year for the last 4 years on my club team.  So far, I am a 3 year letterman for Jenks High School where we won the State Championship my Freshman year, 4th in state my Sophmore year, 7th in state my Junior year.

You ask what my goals are?  These are my immediate goals:

1. To lead my High School team back to a State Championship my Senior year
2. To elevate my GPA as high as I can to make my parents and myself proud
3. To break that High School record so I get the Mustang I have pictured on my bedroom wall
4. To find a 'perfect fit' in both academics and athletics in college
5. To swim for a coach that will utilize the talents I have and push me beyond my limits to get the most out of me
