I have always wanted to go to colleges as I have a great thirst for knowledge. I want to swim in college because it is truly something that I love to do. I continue to improve each meet and my goal is to compete at a National level. My times have dropped dramatically over the past year with all the hard work I have put into the pool. I went from having no Senior Champ cuts at the beginning of the short course season to fully qualifying for sectionals. My goal for the long course season is to get Future's cuts. I am driven to continue to drop my times and be able to contribute to whatever college team I swim for.
I am interested in chemistry, engineering and possibly chemical engineering. I have chosen to study chemical or engineering because I took Honors Chemistry the first semester of my junior year, and I absolutely loved it. I have decided that I am going to be taking AP Chemistry my senior year, as well as AP Calculus BC which will help with the engineering aspect of it.
From a very young age, I have been a hard working, competitive individual and those qualities are still part of who I am. Whether it be in the classroom or in the pool I consider myself to stand out among my peers. During practice I feel that I put in more work than any other person in the water at any given time. I have worked extremely hard to get to the position that I am right now. I lost upwards of thirty pounds last summer just to help improve my swimming capability and it has helped me tremendously.
I stand out from the rest of my peers because I am not afraid to tackle any obstacles that may stand in my way. I have been at practices before where Coach will write on the board "3000 for time". While my fellow peers are standing there complaining about the fact that they have to swim a 3000, I am preparing to put everything I have into it because I know that it will help me improve. I demonstrate leadership by leading the lane and keeping the other swimmers on task during practice. Hard work, dedication and perseverance are qualities that describe me best. I am looking for a college that suits my academic and athletic strengths.
