Swimming is what I know. I have been swimming competitively with the Outer Banks Swim Club since I was ten years old. Swimming has been a major part of my life ever since. Swimming is a culture that I have grown up with. From long weekend swim meets to exhausting practices, swimming has always been there for me as something that I know and love. My friends and family have been supportive of my swimming career all along.
I have lived and traveled all over the country and love to experience new places and cultures. In college, I am looking to swim competitively with a strong, close-knit team. I currently swim with two teams; the Outer Banks Swim Club and the First Flight High School Swim Team. I have competed in North Carolina and Virginia swim meets, placing 1st in the 500 free as a junior in the NCHSAA State Swim Meet. I am always searching for ways to improve my times and my stroke. Distance freestyle is where I succeed the most in the water. I placed 9th in the 1000 freestyle and 12th in the 1650 at the Virginia Senior Champs as a sophomore in 2015 at Virginia Tech. I am always looking for advice from coaches and other swimmers on ways to improve. I have a passion for swimming fast.
Along with swimming, academics also play a major role in my life. I currently have a 3.8 GPA and am working tirelessly to improve it as much as I possibly can. As a junior I am in honors and AP classes. I am looking for a college that supports education as well as athletics. I plan to join the Peace Corps after I graduate college and go into a humanitarian type career after that.
Volunteering is something that means a lot to me. Growing up, my parents taught me the importance of putting the needs of others before your own. I am passionate about volunteering in my community but hope to be able to volunteer beyond my community. I would love to be a part of an abroad volunteering programs that helps out those in need.
