The main goal and reason I want to swim collegiately is because I wish to keep swimming on a competitive level. I swam for my USA club team for the past five years and have fallen in love with the atmosphere. I found swimming to be something I am passionate about, and I could not see myself not doing it. I much rather prefer being on a collegiate level team instead of an intramural because I would love to represent my school, and I also enjoy the competitive nature. One difference I found from swimming on my club team versus my high school team was that my school team was definitely more relaxed and playful. Ironically, one would think the high school team would be more fun to be on; however, I found how much I missed my club team and being pushed hard. I felt like some of the people on my high school team were definitely not as passionate about swimming as me and I started to yearn for my club team. I appreciate the competing environment of my club because I generally improve times in that way, and at the end of practice I feel so accomplished. I find myself with so much respect for my coaches and teammates' time and hard work because they push me to new levels, even when I doubt myself. I turn this type of attitude to my academic life too. I love it when I am in an intriguing class that also pushes me, with peers who share the same interests in the class like me. I know I will go through some classes I will dislike—just like the practice sets I might loathe—but at the end of the class, I know I will feel just as accomplished and proud that i was able to complete the course.
