I love being a student athlete, specifically a student swimmer. I am in my high school's Honors Academy. I thrive on a busy schedule and challenges. I find that I do my best work when I am on a regimented schedule. I intend to carry this lifestyle into college beginning in fall of 2017. I am also a member of the National Honor Society, and I help coach our middle school swim team.
My former Varsity swim coach, a swimmer from Wayne State University and a four- time All-American, says that I am the hardest worker he has ever seen, including swimmers at the college level. Seeing my hard work pay off season after season, I have very high aspirations in not only my senior year of high school, but in my college career as well. My times have improved substantially throughout high school. I credit having great coaches, and having a strong work ethic. In my Junior season, I won the workhorse award, and was named team captain for my upcoming senior season. My assistant coach, Mark Victor, said that any college coach that met me would find my work ethic and personality to be "infectious".
From the beginning of my high school swim career until now, I have dropped major time in my events; specifically, I dropped a total of 16 seconds in my 100 breaststroke, and 18 seconds in my 200 IM. I get stronger and faster each year, and I intend for this trend to continue into my senior season, as well as through college. My goal for my senior year 100 breaststroke is to get around 57 seconds. My 200 IM goal is to reach the sub 2:00 mark. My coach shares these goals with me, and is very optimistic. To achieve these goals, I will be swimming long-course this summer with my club team. I also will be working out with a trainer, and working out on my own.
I am excited by the opportunities that lie ahead.
