Are you looking for an enthusiastic swimmer with a unique story? A swimmer with less years experience than most but with competitive times? A swimmer of many talents who doesn't give up? Then please continue to read why you should choose me to swim for your College or University.
Hello, My name is Andrew Wible and I have always had a love for the water. Outside of the basic swim lessons as a child, I had never considered joining a swim team. That is until I attended my Junior year's back to school night for my AP Physics class. It was here where I learned that my teacher was also the Head Coach for the Arundel Swim Team and was looking for new recruits. He was persistent and offered extra credit for all who attended try-outs. I was up for the challenge and ready to step out of my comfort zone.
In September 2015 I was connected with a graduate from the University of Maryland Baltimore County Swim Team. For three months I had weekly practices and conditioning that paid off, and soon I was a member of the Varsity swim team. It didn't take long for my coaches to recognize my strength as a free-style swimmer, and that has been my event for the past two years. I was even awarded the Rookie of the Year award my Junior year, surprising many on the team when learning I had never swam in a competitive setting before.
Being on the swim team has been a great experience for me. When I was a freshman my family had just moved to the area so I entered high school not knowing anyone. My experience on the swim team took me from being a shy student to a social kid who appreciates the meaning of the word "team". Swimming has improved my confidence. As a Senior I continue to beat previous year times and I don't want to stop.
You should also know that I have a love for music. I have been a member of the Chamber and Men's choir for three years, play guitar and piano. I challenged myself again this year and tried out for the school play, Les Miserable. I received an understudy role in addition to several ensemble pieces.
I have been surrounded by great teachers most of my life. Many have influenced and challenged me when I needed it most. It is for these reasons I am looking for a career in either education or computer science, both of which I know I will be good at. My plan in the Spring is to continue swimming on a Master's team and refining my skills through coaching . I would love to be given the opportunity to swim in college. It is my hope you express an interest in me as I would love to meet with a school who is willing to give a newcomer to the competitive world of swimming a chance. I won't let you down.
