Ryan O'Leary '16 Recruiting Profile

My goal is to not only take my academics and swimming career to the next level, but to be able to have strong connections, whether it be with people in my classes or teammates in the water. I also want to help contribute to other people’s success and be a positive role model on the  team. I have been swimming since I was four years old. At first swimming on the team was just for fun. I wasn't serious about swimming until I realized my love and passion for the sport. I've always loved being part of a caring and compassionate team that could positively influence me to become the swimmer I strive to be. I first found this team and coach when I joined a summer league team. Not only did I look up to my coach and friends, but also to the older kids on the team that pushed me into becoming who I am today.  I feel I can make an impact on the team in a positive manner, not only with my swimming but through my vibrant attitude and personality towards my fellow swimmers and classmates.
Swimming for my high school has been a great opportunity for me. I have met some extraordinary people that have helped me not only become a better swimmer but also a better person and friend. Leading up to my senior year, I have been my teams' MVP for the past three years and also have been state champion in the 200 IM and the 100 breaststroke for two years. I plan to continue my hard work in order to maintain this glorious title and to eventually achieve my goal to qualify to swim at Olympic Trials. I plan to study chemistry  at a four-year college. I hope to contribute to my team and classmates life to help them succeed in their life goals. I also look to have my coach, teammates and classmates take a role in my life to help push me to my full potential.
