Samuel Wilgus '11 Recruiting Profile

Basically swimming is my favorite thing to do; it isn't just a sport, it's a hobby and my favorite past time. I didn't get seriously competitive until I entered high school, and even then, I only swam during the winter season with my high school team and in the summer with my summer league team. While I got better and faster each year, my junior year I realized it wasn't enough, and after swimming by myself and entering in USA swim meets unnaffiliated, I decided to join Swim Atlanta to step it up. Since then i have made it my goal to swim and win in college swimming and think about that goal everytime I enter the water, and have been rewarded with big time drops in the past few monthes. As well as trying to meet my own goals, I have also made it an aspiration of mine to improve my high school team as their captain, not only through helping myself and the team drop time, but also by promoting unity through hard work and discipline. This applies not just to the pool; it also applies to the classroom as well, as I strive to be not just an athlete, but a 4.0 scholar athlete too.
