Hey, my name is Jacob Hayes Allen, most of my friends call me Jake. This year, I am a senior at Walnut Grove High School, and I CANNOT WAIT FOR COLLEGE!!! Since I was 7 I've been able to call swimming the love of my life. It's one of those sports that's not only fun, but it somehow shapes you into the person your going to become. Lessons like discipline, motivation, and the power of a positive spirit have been ingrained in my mind from the countless days and hours I've spent training to get where I am now. I have no idea where I would be without the countless ups and downs this sport has been able to show me: from podium swims to practices that break down your mind body and soul, this sport has shaped me forever. The opportunity and chance to continue my career in the sport are thrilling like I said, I can't wait to see what college will have in store for me.
The lessons swimming has brought to light in my life have allowed me to discover a few things about myself. I've always had the heart to help those around me. With the knowledge I've gained through school and experience, I hope to pursue an undergraduate degree in biology. I hope to then apply and go to medical school in order to become a certified doctor.
My goal over the course of the next four years is to make the 2020 Olympic Trials. I know that with hard work and dedication, I will be on track to swim against some of the best in the world. With that, I hope to thrive in the college atmosphere. As odd as that might sound, I am pumped to meet a group of people as driven to work hard as I am. I hope to build relationships that will last a lifetime wherever I end up going.
At this point, I know that I am blessed to be put in the situation I am in. This is such an exciting time, and I can't wait to see what the future has in store for me.
