I am 6'1" 170 pounds. My strength in swimming is solid upper body strength. I have achieved my current level of swimming with only three days of practice a week. In my earlier swimming years, I was winning many tournaments. However, as I grew older, the competition became stiffer. This is probably due to our recreation team's lack of practice time, but I'm still holding my own in the competition. For the past four years, I have been racing in a 5K lake swim in Hiawassee, Georgia. In 2011 I placed third out of approximately 120 swimmers in The Ridges Invitational 5K Open Water Swim with a time of 1:17:47. On February 11, 2011 I competed in the 1A-4A state meet at Georgia Tech with the 100 yd breaststroke and improved by 2 seconds. Initially, my rank was 67th. The results of my race raised me up to 43rd. Also, this put me at 15th in the state for sophomores. My junior year I placed 28th in the state and I dropped my time by 2 seconds in a year. My time was a 1:04.27. I offer a team oriented mind, and have been a leader for both my teams. I have been awarded the most valuable swimmer on my high school team. Motivation and competitiveness are important to me. I work hard every day both physically and mentally. My major goal is to swim at the collegiate level. At the present time, I would like to keep my options open on colleges. I am considering a major in the medical field but undecided on a specific area. If I make it to the college level of swimming, my goal is to be the top swimmer in that division.
