Michael Pineda '13 Recruiting Profile

After playing different sports as a child I have discovered that swimming is my passion. I learned to swim five years ago and have been swimming with a club and High School ever since. I have accomplished many goals including qualifying for meets such as Gainesville Holiday Classic, Junior Olympics, Florida Senior Championship, Florida Sectionals,  FSPA, and the FSHAA State meet for three years.  As a freshman in High School, I won the "All Conference" title in the 100 Fly and broke and currently hold five school records.  As a sophomore our relay team broke the school record in the 200 Freestyle. I also made the "All Area First Team.  This year as a junior, I became the Conference Champion in Collier County winning the 200 Free.  At States I made finals in my 500 Free with a time of 4:40.  Our relay team broke the school record in the 400 Free.   As a club swimmer, I broke and hold the record in the 100M Freestyle for the yearly Neurosurgical meet (a meet where more than 600 swimmers participate). I have five Sectional cuts for the upcoming Florida Sectionals coming up in March. I am a hard worker and I am at practice every single day, on time, ready and willing to work hard. I am respectful of my coaches and my teammates, open to criticism and improvement. I would love to attend a good school where I can major in Communications/History. My athletic goals are to swim and compete in college while aiming for Olympic trial cuts.
