I began swimming at an early age, but in the two years prior to my freshman year in high school, I was unable to swim. Consequently, I barely made the JV high school team freshman year. That summer, I was determined to improve my swimming, and in order to do so, I went to 13 practices a week for the entire summer. When school started again in the fall, I continued to make every practice I could. In the end, my hard work paid off, and by my sophomore high school season, I was one of the fastest sprinters on my team and made finals at high school state. I feel that I have barely tapped my swimming potential, and as such, my goals for the future include 20. in my 50 free and sub-46 in my 100 free.
My enjoyment of swimming stems from my love for competition, the sense of camaraderie I develop with my teammates, and the thrill of challenging myself to do my best every time I get in the water. My college aspirations are to balance out an engineering degree with fun and fast swimming, and to find a team that is a true family--supporting each other in and out of the water and having a great time doing it.
