Personal Statement

My name is Eric Urstad.  I am 17 years old, 5’10”, 150 lbs., and in my junior year at Woodinville High School in Washington State.  I have been playing soccer since the age of five – first starting out in recreational league and then moving up to club premier soccer when I was 12 (U-13).   I play a regular interchange of right and left midfield and center forward.  In the 5 years I have played Premier soccer, I have been a consistent starter on my teams, winning the Washington State RCL D1 league title twice (2010, 2013), US Club Regionals (2011), and Washington Youth Soccer State Championship (2013).  Over this period, I have scored a total of 144 goals, averaging 28 goals per season.

Living in Washington has afforded me the ability to play soccer year round, and in all weather conditions possible. I bring a diligent work ethic to my game and to my team, training 5-7 days a week. I am a very strong and very fast player.  If you ask any of my club or school coaches, you will consistently hear that I am an extremely hard working player both in practice and in games; am very coachable; and a consistent team leader.

I am not particular regarding geographic regions I wish to pursue college.  Most importantly, I want to find a school that grants me the opportunity to continue to improve my game at the next level and attain a high-quality education.  As my academic record shows, I am a very dedicated student, always pushing myself in school. I currently have a 3.96 GPA (unweighted), including 4 AP classes (Euro-History, US History, Calculus, Language & Composition) and one college class (Spanish).

I am excited to begin exploring opportunities and to apply my strengths and commitments to a college program.

Training

  • Acceleration
  • 2 years
  • This training has added a lot to my speed, acceleration, and agility. For 2 years I have pushed myself really hard in their program to get the most out of it and it has paid off. Whether it was doing plyometrics or running on over-speed treadmills, the hard work never ceased.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
