I began playing soccer in first grade and joined my first travel team in the spring of 5th grade. I started on an ODSL team (Old Dominion Soccer League) and then was moved up to the club's NCSL team, Division 3 for Fall U-13. As I progressed with travel soccer, beginning as primarily a defender, my foot skills, passing, and shooting progressed to the point where I now have been used in three positions -- fullback, outside midfield, and forward. My main assets are speed, quickness, positioning, fitness, and I use both feet equally well. I have excellent field vision and am able to start the attack from the back line.
My current team (Alexandria Elite) has several players who play for their private school teams in the Fall. Since the team is a mix of private/high school players, we will not be sitting out Spring 2013, like the majority of VA teams. As a homeschooler, this is good fit for me since I am ineligible to play at local high school.
I began a second sport, running track spring/summer of 2011 with the Ft. Belvoir Sonic Boom club. During my first season, I ran the 100, 400, 800, and 1500 meters. The coaches were impressed that I was competitive at meets even in my first season.
2012 personal bests : 200m (23.79) and the 800m (2:05.15). I ran the 200/400/800/and 1500 meters at the AAU Club Championships in Florida. During 2013 outdoor, I had personal bests in the 400m (53.11) and 1500 (4:29.89). I also participated in the long jump for the first time. Best jump was 5.12m (16-9.75 ft.)
I'm looking for a college that doesn't mind that I'm homeschooled and where the "student" in student-athlete is emphasized. I love homeschooling because I'm independent. I'm interested in foreign affairs, so I would want a college that has a strong study abroad program. I think I would be comfortable at a small to mid-sized school, under 2,000 each entering class, and probably want to stay on the East Coast.
