I have played Keeper since a young age. As I have advanced, my coaches, initially, have been reluctant to have me be their keeper. They were reluctant because I did not fit the typical keeper prototype, and they questioned my ability to defend the goal. However, without fail, at each new leveI, I quickly earned starting keeper responsibilities, even when an upperclassman occupied the position. I am gritty, proud and love to compete. That is why I believe I may be a potential asset to a good program.
I attend a (4A) Oregon public high school with a strong soccer program. I have been a part of this program since elementary school and have had the good fortune of being coached all of those years by Brian Fish. Our program has great tradition and pride, and it has been extremely rewarding being a part of it. However, because of the limited availability of high level Club Soccer during the off season (Portland, Oregon 3.5 hours away), I recognize that I have had limited opportunity for exposure to many programs. However, I believe my resume warrants notice from programs who are interested in well rounded athletes who hold developable potential and who are leaders.
I am a full time academic athlete, participating in OSAA sanctioned Soccer and Wrestling. I continue in the Spring with Club Soccer and attend camps during the summer. Our club soccer team is a combination of our school’s Varsity and JV players who want to play during the off-season. Though I thrive on the workouts and competition of Wrestling, I will be pursuing only soccer in College.
Key points about myself are as follows:
1) Soccer: I have been on Varsity for three years as a keeper (goalie), sharing responsibilities my first varsity year and starting all of last season. Like last season, I am currently the starter and the captain.
My soccer attributes are: I am a goal stopper. I am a field leader. I have exceptional vision and awareness of the field. I respond very quickly to shots. I am fearless in taking on attackers. I am coachable. I continue to improve my foot skills and like playing other positions when an opportunity arises.
2) Wrestling: I have lettered two years, both as a freshman and sophomore (did not last season because of injury) and I will be a captain next year. I am quick, strong and am proud of my advancement in a sport that I only began participating in my freshman year.
3) Leadership: In addition to taking a Leadership class during the schools hours, I am also part of the Athletes Council in my school. I have also been elected President of the FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America). I have also attended seminars and conventions relating to development of leadership skills and I volunteer in numerous other camps and opportunities throughout my community.
Despite having limited access to the recruiting opportunities in larger metro areas, I
Believe that I demonstrate the kind of work ethic and determination that can be an asset for a competitive team. I offer the focus, coachability, hard work and competitiveness that it takes to compete at the next level.
I would welcome contact or interest from anyone who is interested in a competitor.
