farid sani '17 Recruiting Profile

Hi everyone,

I am Farid Sani a Nigerian-born soccer player who grew up with football as part of my daily life. From a very young age, I began kicking the ball around and football to me was only a TV sport with the English premier league being my favourite competition to watch.

Competitive football started for me as a junior in my first year with my last secondary school however, I was merely a spectator when games came along. It was a 5-year British secondary school  IGCSE programme so in my first year I remained far away from the team.  In Nigeria, the football system works in a way where is only one team with an 18 man squad so making the team in the first year is nearly impossible.  Due to my love for the game, I began training with the team and setting goals for myself.  MY main goals were being in the team by my year 9 which was my 3rd year and being the best in my position (midfield).

Truth be told I achieved those goals winning awards with my soccer academy and the value for the most contribution award with the team. My final year was my best year with the team winning the regionals and becoming captain of the school team.  

Ever since I have been giving a scholarship based on athletic and academic achievement to move to the US where I have completed my first year of the IB course at UWC-USA in New Mexico and I'm looking forward to taking my football to the next level. I've had an amazing first season also becoming captain of the school's varsity team early in my first year.

I am passionate about both my sports and academics as I have a 4.0 Gpa and a plan to study business at college. I am enthusiastic and hopeful about my college future.
