Hello, My name is Joe Ortiz and I am from Albuquerque, New Mexico. I've been playing soccer ever since I could walk. I played on my first club team when I was 6 years old and ever since then I have dreamed of playing soccer at the collegiate level. My goals for when I go to college are getting a degree in Social work and in Psychology. I want to help people with special needs when I get older and go on home visits to see if they are living in a safe and healthy environment. I love competition, whether it is P.E., a pick up basketball game, or soccer. I am also a very coachable player. I adapt very well to change and always do what I am told. I can also play any position exceptionally whenever I am needed to. I am very well behaved on and off the field. I've been told I am fun and easy to coach, and I think that makes me stand out from other recruits. I am also very strong on the ball, very fast, and athletic. I'm not afraid to get stuck in on a tackle with someone who is bigger than me. I also have very good technical skills. I can pass the ball on a dime from short, medium, and long distance. Even though I am a defender I usually push up into the attack and I am a key scorer for my high school and club team. Some of my soccer achievements have been being selected to play on the rush all star team. This team consists of the best players in the nation for the Rush organization. I was the captain of these teams for the 3 years I was on it. I was also chosen to go play for the u16 Rush Real Madrid team. Only 16 kids in the nation were selected to play for the team and I had the honor of not only being selected to go and play in Spain, but to also be the captain of the team. Recently I played up 3 years with the Rush 95's in the 2014 Far West Regional Tournament and I started every game and scored once.
