Personal Statement

My name is Alexander Ratzan and I'm an aspiring college soccer player. I was born here in the United States but learned to play soccer in Belgium. Now I live in Princeton, NJ and I play for a State Runner-up, Princeton High School Varsity team and Stronghold SC Falcons, a state and national champion club team. I am an attacking minded player for the most part and I play both outside mid and forward. What sets me aside is my speed and skill on the ball. I want to play college soccer at the highest level I can, and in doing so I want to develop my academics and my endless love for the game. In college I want to learn about the many fields I enjoy, such as neuroscience and public health. I am excited for my college experience as a whole.

This was the national tournament for us club soccer that my team qualified for by winning regionals. I personally had 2 goals in the four matches played making me the top scorer of my team for both the tournament and full season. My team went undefeated and we won in the finals making us the national champions.

West Ham United International Academy Elite Trip
3/23/14 to 3/29/14
I was able to participate in this event after being nominated by my old club and going through regional and national tryouts. West Ham United Academy then selected a 15 man squad from the US, Australia, and Bermuda to take on the third best youth academy in England, West Ham United. My squad ended up beating them 3-1 for the first time ever in 9 years. I have been invited back to the national camp for another tryout in order to participate again.
