As an athlete in general, I am dedicated to continually improving my endurance, muscle strength, and skill. As we soccer players get older, the game gets more intense (especially in college soccer and beyond), so it is important to stay physically fit. In terms of soccer, it is easy to say I am extremely dedicated to the sport because it is 120% true. Everyday, whether I am indoors, outdoors, at practice or not, I am always playing with the soccer ball, continually trying to improve my technique and keep my basic skills sharp. I am very enthusiastic about development, and am never satisfied with settling for less than what I am truly capable. My heart, mind, soul, and passion for soccer is what pushes me to excel, and no matter what the score is (whether we're winning 3-0 or losing 5-1), I play with a "never say die" attitude and play at my hardest until the final whistle has been blown.
Even if I am told that I am good, or feel that I am good, I want to be GREAT. Strengthening my strengths and improving my weaknesses is the way to go. Whenever I feel my performances are below par, I immediately focus on what I need to improve on and make sure that I put in a stronger performance. It may be considered obsessive, but to me it's a gift-being able to immediately notice what I need to improve and sharpen myself in. Otherwise, who am I helping? Certainly neither my team nor myself if I choose to let average/mediocre dictate my role as a soccer player. My ambition is to play at the collegiate level of NCAA DII or DIII Men's Soccer, and play in an U-20 & U-23/Men's Soccer/PDL team while fulfilling my potential major in a college/university atmosphere. I AM, and WILL BE, that type of hard-working player who can step onto to the field and make a positive impact in the collegiate soccer environment. I have done it in my club and high school soccer environments, and I am eager to do the same thing in college. I believe all the steps I've been taking in my futbol life has all been preparation to play soccer in college, while still emphasizing the importance of fulfilling an invaluable, memorable, and useful education.
For the coach, if you tell me to do something, I guarantee I WILL do it. If I succeed, I won't stop-I'll keep going...whatever it takes to help my team win. If I fail, I promise you I will work harder than ever sharpen my weaknesses and apply my newfound strength on the field. Once again, it's all for my team. Like I said before, every step I took in my soccer life, from the first time I ever kicked a ball, scoring my first goal, playing travel soccer, participating in showcases, and so much more-was ALL for playing soccer in college. I certainly won't stop now-I've came to far in my futbol career and success is my only option: something I have to take, but more importantly, something I WANT to take.
