2012 HighlightsPersonal Statement
My name is Matthew Gallo and I currently attend West Morris Mendham High School in Mendham, New Jersey. I am 5'11", weigh 155 lbs and am currently a defender but have played in multiple positions, sweeper/stopper/ center mid-fielder, wing. I am in the graduating class of 2014 and currently have a GPA of 3.9. I was a varsity starter my sophomore year as a sweeper/stopper, Captain for my junior year and also for my Senior year. I have played club soccer for 6 years and have been playing with the New Generation/Parsippany Celtic United Team, including Soccer, Super Y and Futsal for 5 years. I have been the Captain for all five years on all 3 leagues.
My high school team, MENDHAM has advanced through the states and and has won the State Sectional Championship for 2012. I was awarded the MVP Player on my team for 2012 and have also been awarded HM on All Conference, All County and also the All Daily Record Teams for 2012. Individual high school awards for 2013 include MVP Player, All Conference, All County and All State.
My travel team has gone to the Nationals for Super Y, won three State Tournaments, three Regional Championships for Futsal and recently competed and was a FINALIST in The Nationals for Futsal in Kansas City. For college, my hope is to be accepted into a prestigious university and represent them on the soccer field. I play soccer for the love of the technical sport but also for my teammates and my relationships with my coaches.
My family is my strength. My parents and two older brothers have been behind me my whole life and have made it possible for me to be successful on and off of the soccer field.
