I have been playing soccer since I was four years old. I have always aspired to play at the collegiate level and know that the experience would be a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Athletically, I’m a team player who strives for perfection and who is passionate about playing soccer. I have excellent ball control and decision-making skills and am very quick. I welcome constructive criticism from my coaches and teammates, incorporating their feedback into the game. I am very coachable and strive to be one of the hardest working players and one of the hardest working recruits you’ll find.
I am a team leader and was selected co-captain for the 2015-2016 season and next season as well. I try to lead by example while also encouraging my teammates. I was very recently named Players' Player of the Year (2016) for my club team. Additionally, this past year I’ve committed myself to an intensive 3x/week speed, agility & performance training regimen with a personal trainer who works with professional and college athletes. I primarily play right back, but last season I got a considerable amount of playing time as a left and center back due to team injuries. This was a great learning experience. I am also my team's set piece taker, and number 2 in the shoot out lineup.
In my spare time, my favorite thing to do is watch professional soccer matches on tv so I can improve my game. Also I like to hangout with my friends.
In the classroom, I study hard and maintain a high GPA while taking all honors classes. I also volunteer with GPS NJ Juniors Rec Program, GPS Indoor Soccer Camp, UT Challenger Program, and have been a GPS Soccer Coach's Assistant for U10 Girls. This summer I hope to get my F9 Coaching License as well.
I want to attend a college where I can push myself in the classroom and on the field. I am open to all options and want to ultimately find the right college match at the highest level of competition possible. I hope to become a great role model to all my peers and make my parents proud.

TACTICAL ABILITIES - 92: Defensive Awareness - Understands team defensive schemes, shows understanding of positioning and angles. Group Play - Play was elevated in team activities. Great understanding of your roles and responsibilities within a team. PHYSICAL ABILITIES - 92: Strength - Did a good job handling challenges and played well shoulder-to-shoulder. Balance - Seemed to handle the challenges you faced well. Good job staying on your feet and not getting knocked off the ball. MENTAL ABILITIES - 92: Confidence - Great confidence, didn’t shy away when challenged at camp and played with a sense of urgency. Coachable - Responds well to coaching. Asked good questions and seemed to enjoy the learning process. COACH YARBOROUGH COMMENTS: Josh had a great attitude and was a real pleasure to work with at camp. He brings a nice energy & good work rate to every session. His knowledge of the game and solid work ethic helped him to stand out throughout the camp. His awareness on the field and developing technical skills help him create opportunities for both himself and his teammates, especially playing out of the back. As a 2017 grad, he is continuing to develop physically and with continued technical skills & communication development has the potential to become a solid player in the future.
