I remember all the things my parents had to go through when we moved to the United States. I promised myself then, to never let any obstacle stop me on my journey to success. My father used to beg me as a little boy to play soccer. My stubbornness never allowed me to listen to him until one day in the 5th grade, my gym teacher passed out fliers for my town's club soccer team to my class. I asked my father to take me to the tryouts and as soon as I stepped foot on the pitch I fell in love. Soccer has taught me more about myself than anyone ever could. It is thanks to soccer that I know that there is no such thing as not being good enough. It all depends on how much time you're willing to devote to that one thing you want. I learned that a soccer isn't just a game, it's a lifestyle. I chose this lifestyle as my own. Soccer never stops if you don't want it to whether it's after high school, college, or at a professional level. Thanks to soccer I know that I can achieve anything I want through consistent practice. My academic goals for high school are to find myself and what I love so that I know what I want to do with my life when I graduate. My academic goals for college are to shape myself into the independent young man my parents want me to be while pursuing a career that I love. The most difficult part of life for me would have to have been moving to the United States from Peru at the age of four years old. However, it was this same difficult time period that gave me the motivation I needed to work at anything I do until I succeed. By doing so, I know that soon enough I'll be able to get on a plane and go see my family in Peru whenever I want. My most unique and favorite characteristic that I have is my diligence. When it comes down to school, soccer, or anything that is of importance to me, I refuse to be out worked. I will spend hours upon hours practicing the same thing over and over until I get it right.
