I first found interest in soccer when my dad's side of the family urged me to play because they all played. Then my recreational coach encouraged me to go select (Club) soccer in fifth grade and I have never regretted my decision.
I think what sets me apart from other goalies is that I communicate with my teammates as much as possible. I am vocal and control my back line to make sure that we stay strong and together. I am comfortable with my feet and I am also good at collecting crosses. I have been captain of my club team for three years and was captain of the freshman high school team (I was the only freshman goalie). My high school coaches had me play five JV games and when the 2nd string Varsity goalie got injured with two weeks left of the season, I became the Varsity back-up goalie. I got to start one game and got a clean sheet that game. In my sophomore year (2013) I made Varsity as the backup goalie and the coaches also had me play forward. I started 3 games in the field and 2 as goalie. As a forward, I led the team in goals with 7 and 1 assist. At the end of the season I received honorable mention all conference and was voted the Mr. Team Award by the other players (most team oriented player). This past season I was named captain of Varsity team and was one of the first Juniors to be captain in several years. I was also voted Mr. Team (most team oriented player) by my teammates for the second season in a row.
My main goal is to play professional soccer as a goalie. College is more than a degree to me, it is a way to help me prepare for life and enjoy what I want to do as my career. My favorite soccer team is Celtic FC and to play for them would be truly amazing. I want to play college soccer and work my way up into the MLS or another league, like Brad Guzan. Brad, Aston Villa’s starting goalie, played for Chivas U.S.A. and then moved on to Europe. Another one of my idols is Tim Howard, who played for Manchester United and now Everton. To follow in these two players footsteps would be a dream come true.
I am participating in advanced classes in high school to prepare myself for college. Again, I know getting a college degree is one of the most important things in my life, so to go through the college route to play professional soccer would be a great achievement.
