From the time I first played soccer at the U8 level for a rec team I had dreams of one day playing for Manchester United. I moved to the travel/select level when I began playing U10 soccer. For the next 7 years I played on various travel teams looking for "the big break". I also went to training camps hosted by DC United in hopes of bettering my skills as a goalkeeper and a field player. I also played indoor (futsal) to keep my skills up over the winter. When I started playing in soccer high school my goals were to play at the Varsity level, be captain my senior year and work my hardest to help my team reach the state championship game. My first goal was realized when the Varsity coach invited me to tryout my Sophomore year. I was guaranteed a spot on JV if I didn't make the Varsity cut, but I did. Senior year my team elected me their captain and while we didn't get to the state championship we did get to the regional finals which is the farthest the team had been in several years. At the end of the season my team voted me the MVP and I was the Southern Maryland Athletic Conference second team goalkeeper for 2013.
I hope to use the invitation to play for Maryland United FC as a springboard to reach my goals of playing soccer at the collegiate level and hopefully realize my dream of one day playing professional soccer. I also hope to use my college years to obtain a degree that will help me fulfill my other dream of being a police officer, more specifically a SWAT member.
