Scoring in, and winning the Iowa State Tournament for club soccer this past fall was the highlight of my soccer career. Defeating a team we had not beat in the last three finals made me realize how much the hard work and effort that I, and the rest of my team had put in really payed off. As a kid, I wanted to play soccer after watching and playing with my brothers in the backyard. While playing soccer, I had a big growth spurt between eighth grade and freshman year and I was suffering with Osgood Schlatter’s (“OS”) disease. After outgrowing OS my sophomore year, I was much more focused. I could play without pain and I was able to give my full effort in practice to become better, finally playing at the level I knew I could.
In high school, I enjoyed winning the Iowa High School State Tournament my sophomore year, scoring the goal in overtime in the finals to ensure my team won the championship. With my club and high school team I learned not only the soccer skills I have today, I also learned the value of working hard and dedicating oneself to the team. I’m looking for a program that will be a good fit for me athletically as well as academically. I would like to earn an engineering degree while in college. I believe that I have the drive and the skill to impact your program immediately, and impact the team in a positive way.
