Personal Statement
I have been playing football all my life - I started playing from a very young age and never stopped. I live and breathe football! I try my best every time I step onto the pitch.
In order to build up my football skills I contacted elite clubs regarding club trials and training sessions. After a successful trial, I started playing for Afc Rushden and Diamonds under 18 and also the under 21 team. In addition to that I play for Northampton town fc on their elite team set up at my college. I play club matches on Saturday/Sunday and college matches (Northampton town fc) on Wednesdays. I was one of only three first years selected to represent my college team, all the other players are in their second year.
I want to further my career by playing college soccer. I am currently studying on a 2 year sports and development diploma course. I am in year 12 now which means that I have another year before I pack my bags ready for college.
I have a very good sporting physique which has helped me to excel in football. My excellent ball control and quick feet often surprises people as not many tall players (I am 6"4') have the ability to control and manipulate the ball to such a high standard.
I strive for excellence off the field as well as on the field. I have achieved very high grades [distinctions, equivalent to an A] on my course and I am in the top 5 percent. I do volunteer work as I think it’s very important to give back. I have volunteered at my local youth soccer club helping children to improve their soccer skills. I also volunteer regularly at my church: I deliver the monthly church magazine and organise youth club activities and events as a member of the youth club board. I see volunteering as a way of also gaining new skills.
I take pride in doing a job well, as I hate to see a job poorly done. My aim at college is to push myself hard on the soccer pitch as well as in the class-room.
