My name is Aaron Boyd. I'm 6'2", 165 lbs. I’m a very versatile player with strong technical skills and a passion about playing center midfield where I can help control the pace, direction and momentum of the game. Maintaining possession, taking on players 1v1 and/or attacking the goal are things I excel at. I am good at not only creating plays but also seeing plays and helping with their development. I am a key play maker whether I am distributing the ball to the player with the best opportunity, attacking or directing and communicating to my teammates. I was the 1st freshman to make Varsity as an attacking center mid for North High school. I have played a variety of positions, including forward and striker or point man, but midfield is my main position and is where I have played for most of my HS and travel soccer career. Last season I was recruited to play for Derby City Rovers Youth Academy (formerly known as River City Rovers Youth Academy) in Louisville, KY where I took on a new role as center back and on occasion outside back. I play on Rover's 97 NPL and U17 MRL teams in addition to their college showcase teams. I will continue to play for Rovers this coming season, maintaining my academics while committing to a 2 hour commute – each way-so that I can get the best training and play against the best competition.
Being a leader both on and off the field is important to me. I am a certified Grade 8 referee where I give back to the sport as school, training, and games allow. I enjoy refereeing games with young kids and watching them play - assisting them in learning the sport while having fun. In addition to this, I have represented my area's youth at the International Youth Group Convention and participated in community service projects.
I am hoping to find a program that will be a good fit athletically as well as academically so I can continue my pursuit of playing at the highest level possible while pursuing a degree in Business. I hope to one day have my own business and coach soccer; much like a coach I have known most of my career who has had a big influence over me.
