James (Drew) Funk '14 Recruiting Profile

My name is Drew Funk and I'm an 18 year old Senior at Statesboro High School.  I'm a 4 year Varsity player and starting Goalkeeper for my high school team.  I was voted Captain and named to the All Region team both Junior and Senior year.  I guest played with South Carolina United/Mount Pleasant (SCU/MP) 95 Elite team at the 2013 Disney Soccer Showcase at ESPN Wide World of Sports, where we tied the #38 team in the nation and came in 3rd in the Premier bracket, and I allowed only 1 goal for the tournament.  It was a great experience.

My volunteer work includes serving at the local Boys and Girls Club and being Goalkeeper coach for local youth soccer clinics.  I'm active in the youth group at First Baptist Church as well as Young Life and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.  I am also very involved in Drama at my high school where I compete in One Act plays at the state level and I won an All Star Cast award my Junior year. I enjoy traveling with my family and have been to lots of cool places like England, Wales, China, Hawaii, California, New York, Colorado, Utah and Washington DC.  In my spare time I like to play soccer with my friends, go to the beach and play video games (FIFA!) whenever possible.

My future goals include attending college (Fall 2014) where I can play soccer and major in Film/Cinema, Communication/Media Arts, Performing Arts/Acting, Sound Design or TV/Sports Broadcasting.
