My name is Devin Hurley and I am currently a Senior at St. Pius X Catholic High school. I was born in Nepal and was adopted at age 2.5 yrs.
This year, I will be a fourth year member of the St. Pius Varsity Soccer program. I am approximately 155 lbs and work out. I am considered the quickest on the team. I am actually the second fastest in a straight sprint. My 40 yrd time (from standing) is 4.4 sec. I have been a game captain at least once for my Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior years. I played JV and Varsity my Freshman year and Varsity since. I was a game captain my Freshman year and a key player to the success of our team. In 2011, we were ranked #1 in the Nation (by ESPN Coach's Poll) and won the Georgia State Championship; in 2010 we were ranked number two in the nation but came up short in the state playoffs landing third place; In 2009 we won the state championship.
I play club soccer for for NSA U18 on a newly formed team that was given the classic 1 designation, but is undefeted against the clubs R3PL team. I am considerd one of the 3 best players in the club. I left the CFC East select team (classic 1), because I was unchallenged --being the best player --leading goal scorer and leading the team in assists.
I am seeking the best accademic school available. I am considering most colleges, with a preference to the southeast. I prefer to receive an education at a college where I can have a close relationship with my professors. I am interested in psychology, but am still not certain enought to declare it my major. I excel in academics and jobs that involve group interactions and teamwork. I also enjoy sociology, humanities, history and biology.
I prefer to attend a college where I can play soccer at a competitive level; one where I can get playing time and also be challenged. I am committed to playing soccer at a higher level. I currently practice on my own in season and out and even on days when we have team soccer practice. I have friends from school who play collegiate D1 soccer and I can play soccer near their skill level. I am mentally and physically prepared to play soccer in college.
