My name is Wyatt Dessel and I am a Freshman at Muhlenberg College and I graduated from Fairview High School (FHS) in 2016. At Muhlenberg I started 5 games and played in 12 games. I am a Center Defender and my club teams were FC Boulder U18 Elite, National Premier League, and Fairview High School teams in Boulder, CO. I can also play outside back or holding midfield. I started 54 consecutive varsity games since sophomore year. I was voted to Colorado first team All-Region (2015), second team All-State (2015), CO first team (2015) & second team (2014) All-Conference. I was also awarded the two FHS leadership awards - Brother-in-Arms & Knight awards for my unwavering leadership qualities. Sophomore year I was awarded FHS Outstanding Young player. In addition, I was selected to play on the WCDA All Star Team at the Thanksgiving Classic in Las Vegas. I am also on the WCDA Watch List. I played an age group higher on my club team because I wanted to gain more experience and exposure, play with more competitive teams, and personally challenge myself. Throughout my soccer career, I have been the team captain on my club teams and starter on every team I played on. I am passionate about soccer and I want to keep competing at the highest level of soccer. I am a hard tackler, a precision passer and anticipate the game well. I routinely win headers off crosses, corners and am a constant organizer of the defense. My most impressive attribute is my mental strength. I will never give up on anything whether it be a tackle or a practice. Here is what my coach said about me: "As a team captain, Wyatt has demonstrated remarkable leadership throughout the season, and is unquestionably at the heart and soul of Fairview Soccer. His physical presence, on-field leadership, and passion for the game will be sorely missed in future seasons."
I am very motivated to continue my soccer career in college. I am constantly working to improve my skills by working hard, attending camps and clinics, and watching professional soccer games. Academics are important in my pursuit of a successful college career. I have a 4.1 weighted GPA and take advanced Math and Spanish classes. I intend to study Engineering in college.
