My name is Matthew Schumacher, and I am 17 years old. I live in San Diego, California. I am a junior at Maranatha Christian School, where I am a starter on the varsity soccer team. I am primarily an attacking midfielder, but occasionally my coaches move me to center-back if I'm needed there.
My RSF Attack Club team progressed through CalSouth BU16 National Cup to the finals.
I finished my sophomore season leading all of San Diego in regular-season goals & points.
I was selected to 1st Team All-League as a sophomore and 2nd Team All League as a Freshman, and I am a CIF Scholar athlete. I have played soccer for about 7 years now and have yet to stop loving the sport.
I have been asked to join USSDA teams here in San Diego, but I have respectfully declined their offers because I love playing high school soccer, and my RSF Attack team has such a strong bond together.
Currently, my goals are to graduate from High School with outstanding grades, and to go on as a student athlete attending a university with excellent academics and a competitive soccer program.
I wear jersey #8 for my school team and my Attack team.

- During this season, Coach Ryan Carruth transformed me from a basic midfielder to a powerful defender, capable of taking charge of the back line, maintaining possession under pressure, and starting attacks from the back line. I'm so glad Coach Carruth saw my potential and taught me how to be a strong attacking defender.
