My name is Jake and I am a 5'10, 170 lb midfielder from Anoka, Minnesota. I feel my strengths are agility, the ability to see the field of play , and my leadership skills. I have been able to maintain my high school GPA between a 3.5 and a 3.7 out of a 4.0. I feel maintaining a good GPA will help me with my goals of going to college and getting a degree in either Athletic training or Physical Therapy.
I have been playing and watching lacrosse since I was in the 4th grade. During the spring and summers I played in my local association but always wanted to play at a higher, more challenging level. In the summer of 2011 I made the MN SELECT LOONS U15 traveling team. We played in local tournaments along with attending Notre Dame Camp and the Chicago Cup. In the fall of 2011 I made the MN SELECT LOONS fall team where we attended the Turkey Shootout in New York. Summer of 2012 while on the MN SELECT LOONS U17 team I attended the Chicago Cup, The Ohio State Camp and the Tri State Tournament in New Jersey. While playing on the 2012 MN SELECT LOONS fall team we participated in the Chicago Lax Tourney, our local Hot Dish Tourneament and then the Denver Shootout. Traveling and playing the teams from other states has given me the motivation to work harder and become a better lacrosse player.
As a high school freshman I was one of 4 guys to make and start on the High School JV team. As a sophomore I was moved up mid-season to Varsity and became one of the starting attackman. I will now start my Junior year as a midfielder along with the honor of being elected as a Captain of the team. I have been working with our high school booster club to help organize off season wall ball sessions for both the new and returning players, as well as participating in our off season fall games. We are currently playing winter lacrosse and I am helping to get our younger players motivated as well as learning our plays, so they are ready when season begins. I also train offseason with my summer coach to prepare myself for the upcoming seasons. I will also be working with the other captains to create, organize and run captains practice this spring.
Throughtout my years of playing lacrosse, I was never known as the shy kid or the kid that never took the shot when the oppurtunity was there. When I dodge i always dodge with power, stability and my head up in case I need to make a quick hitch step and pass it off to an open man. Involving offense, I like to lead and control the offense, make plays that some people can't, and when oppurtunitys appear and I love knowing the feeling that something can happen. Also whenever there was an oppurtunity to score, I always try to pounce on the oppurtunity and give it 100%. Involving defense my rides are hard, I try and drive defenders to the side and later on take the ball. My primary play has been as an attackmen, but I am also playing more midfield in the offseason. When playing midfilder, I see the field in a whole new perspective and I am able to see plays happen and what cuts can happen. I am able to help move the ball around and not only shoot on the run, but also assist players so they can be in a better position to score as well.
My goal has always been to play college lacrosse as it seems like the next logical step in play. I have always planned on going to college, and lacrosse is yet another means of getting there. I love the sport and play with 100% effort and want to play at the next level. When looking at schools I am looking for a 4 year, medium sized college that is located near the east/west coast. The school must have a strong academic curriculum along with strong athletic qualities.
I thank you for taking the time to look at my profile and I hope that I am the right fit for you.
