I am a hardworking person, on and off the field. For as long as I can remember, I have been taught to be disciplined, kind, patient, and to work my hardest in everything I do.
I feel that there is too much negativity in this world today; we need people in all aspects of life to take stands and make positive impacts. I believe that I am making a positive impact with my lacrosse teammates. I was blessed to have a coach who was a student of the game and I have learned to honor the game and its history. I believe in leading by example, and my example is that of integrity, dedication, commitment and perseverance. An example of my perseverance and dedication is that, although I am dominantly right-handed, I have worked all my life to be able to switch to my left hand fluently.
School has always been my first priority behind faith and family, and I put in whatever time and effort is necessary to be my best in my academics. My father helped me realize at an early age that academics are a gateway for endless opportunities, and that the sacrifices that I am making now in order to create opportunities for myself will be rewarded in the future. My plan is to graduate college and then I would like to go into medical school and pursue a profession in either orthopedic surgery or psychiatry.
Later in life, I would like to give back, to not only my community, but to other countries that are suffering amidst hunger and poverty. After visiting Africa and seeing how much children have to go through just to obtain drinking water, I became interested in digging wells in Africa. I am also interested in possibly providing psychotherapy for those in need.
My biggest aspiration in this world is to set a positive example. I want to show people that living in gratitude will bring you joy, even in difficult situations. My mother has helped me realize that nobody knows how much time they have left on this Earth, and it is our purpose to make each day a good day. I am fortunate to have come from a family where these types of lessons were taught, however, I know many of my friends who were not as fortunate, so I feel I can positively impact their lives and the lives of those who I meet along my journey.
Life is a gift that we are given, and I hope to be able to live mine playing the sport that I love to the best of my ability.
