My name is Luke Curran. I will be graduating in 2017 from Gulf Coast High School in Naples, Florida. I am 6'3"/185 midfielder and have been a varsity letterman since freshman year. I have been playing for Team Florida, Madlax and the Madlax National teams!
I have always been a player with excellent field vision. This allows me to see how the play is developing so that I may execute the plays in order to help my team win the game. My lacrosse IQ allows my athletic play to become second nature. I do not fear pressure and have always been able to come through for my team. I want to compete against and with the best at the collegiate level. By playing for Madlax Nationals and having success, it proves to me I can contend with the top players, and in the process, contribute to my team!
This fall, I attended Inside Lacrosse Southeast Invitational, where I was selected to be on the "Who Stood Out" list. I then participated in the East Coast Invitational in Maryland and made the All-Tournament Team. To end my 2014 season, I played in Tournament of Champions for the Madlax National Team as we won and became National Champions. In this tournament, I scored the game-winner to help us advance to the final four. In the semifinals, I won several crucial face-offs to give us the momentum we needed to advance to the finals.
My goal is to find the perfect school that will balance my education along with my drive to perform at the highest level. As a student-athlete, I have and continue to excel in school. I have been selected into the AICE (Cambridge) program and take all honor classes.
One of my intangible characteristics is leadership. I have been selected team captain in various sports. I strive to inspire my teammates and help them become the best they can be, on or off the field. My work ethic and dedication are other traits I possess, and they are especially evident in training. I continue to train outside of practices by weight-training, agility drills, and hitting the wall.
I love the game of lacrosse because it combines the skills of many sports into one. Speed, strength, and endurance are necessary skills one must possess. I feel the sports (football, soccer, basketball) I have played through the years have contributed to my success on the lacrosse field. To me, lacrosse is like a game of chess. Everyone is moving as you must think one step ahead in order to be successful.
