I picked up a lacrosse stick for the first time in the 3rd grade. Since the day I started I have been in love with the game of lacrosse. I realized I wanted to play college lacrosse in middle school, but I didn't start working extremely hard for it till the 7th grade. That summer I began going down to the field every day to work on my game. At that time I played attack, but my sophomore year I switched positions to Faceoff midfield. When I started taking them I realized I was a natural at it. Years of youth wrestling and two years of varsity highschool wrestling had given me a knack for winning the draws. After realizing this, I experimented with my stance and became a faceoff machine. Over the summer and the fall I beat some of the top faceoff guys in the state in many tournaments. Coming into the season I was on fire, winning 70% of my draws on the season.
When I play lacrosse, the team comes first. I want to win the faceoff for the benefit of the team. If I win the draws, I know I'm doing my job to get the team to victory. I would rather feed a kid who's waiting on the crease for an easy goal than take an outside shot, or dodge a double team. The feeling I get when I step on the field is incredible. It helps me forget everything going on outside the field and makes me feel great.
I am a very strong believer in holding myself to a higher standard. I do extra drills whenever I have the time. I lift weights on my own and keep myself in the best physical shape that I can. I have never talked back to another player on the field or negatively retaliated. I don't see how retaliating could help the team. If they want to chirp or play chippy thats their problem. If I see someone stuck in the snow on the road I would rather get out and help them, than drive past them. I pride myself in helping people who need it. The better I treat others the better they will treat me.
