Hello, my name is Justin Lee. I am currently attending Northview Heights Secondary School and enrolled in two specialty programs, Honors Math Science and Technology (HMST) and Academic Program for Gifted Athletes (APGA). The HMST program offers me a higher level of education by providing an enriched curriculum in the areas of math, science and technology. The APGA program is open only to elite athletes and is designed to allow us to maintain academic excellence while pursuing our training and competition. More information on both these programs can be found on our school website www.northviewheights.ca.
While playing hockey at a high level for many years, I also believe education is an important ingredient in the development of me as a person. In grade 10, as an overall average, I achieved a 91% average; however, my core subject marks were even higher. Currently in Grade 11, I am achieving a 90%+ average while juggling the rigors of minor midget AAA hockey. On December 2, 2017, I completed my first run at the SAT and scored a 1260/1600 and will try to improve this score when I am entering Grade 12.
Even though it is early in my high school and hockey career, my determination to play at the highest competitive collegiate hockey has grown stronger with each passing year. NCAA itself has always been a goal for me. It is a good foundation to further develop me as a goaltender supported by an educational program. Through my early years of development, being blessed with strong family support and coaching has allowed me to be successful both on and off the ice.
I am known to be a very coachable person. The goals I set for myself at every practice and games are to stay mentally strong, work on my weaknesses and battle hard to win. I keep pushing myself even if I don’t think I can give anymore. I take the same approach with my academics. I am very athletic and take a very calm and patient approach to my game. I strongly believe in playing for the jersey and not for the name on the back. Success is a team effort and there is no room for “me” in a team sport. I will continue to push myself harder than ever and always look to improve my game each time.
I hope I have the opportunity to meet you in the near future. Please feel free to go to my YouTube channel to see more videos of my journey; https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-wesbGlQV5uO21eR3TNt3Q/videos?view=0&shelf_id=0&sort=dd.
Kind Regards.
