I first started to play the game of hockey when I was 3 years old and started to play ice-hockey when I was 8 years old. I had never played ice-hockey before and was nervous the first time I stepped on the ice, but after that first time one the ice there was no going back. I have been playing pretty much year round since then and wouldn't have it any other way. I feel extremely fortunate to be able to play hockey. It has helped me learn more than just how to shoot a hockey puck. It has helped me learn about appreciating what I have in life and to not take anything for granted and much more than that. It has taught me that in life if I want to succeed or accomplish anything I have to work and work until I achieve that goal, it isn't just going to be handed to me.
Currently, I attend Saint Augustine Preparatory School in Richland, NJ. I had always wanted to go to this school since I was a little kid. When I was little the reason that I wanted to go to Saint Augustine was to play hockey but as I got older one of the main reasons that I wanted to and still want to go there for is the academics. Even though I knew that going to this school would be extremely challenging especially while being on two hockey teams I still wanted to go because I knew that it would best prepare me for my college education. While playing for my high school team I also play on a club team. Last year I was fortunate enough to play in playoffs with this club team and even though we did not win the championship and move on to districts it was a great experience. I learned a lot about being a leader and it was good for me as a player to play such good players on opposing teams. From this experience I really improved and it made me realize how many good players there are in my age group. This was an eye opener to how much work i still have ahead of me. I believe that my skill set could make a positive contribution to a college team in the future.
