Hockey is a huge part of my life, but by Minnesota standards I started later than my peers. I learned to skate at age 6 in my home state of Indiana but it became clear to my parents I was very passionate about hockey! We moved to the State of Hockey when I was a Squirt and I have never looked back. I am very passionate about the sport and bettering my skills on and off the ice. I have been blessed to attend a middle school dedicated to hockey development that also emphasizes academics and character. Getting to play hockey 3 hours within my school day has improved my skills tremendously. More importantly, my family stresses development and demonstration of good character. I am always the first one to pick up a team mate (literally off the ice or figuratively in life), welcome players onto the ice, stay late to help coach pick up pucks and nets and get in extra practice. This demonstration of good character has opened up more hockey opportunities for me than my stats alone.
I am a general utility type player, battling for the puck, causing turnovers and capitalizing on scoring opportunities. I'm not the highest scorer on every team I make, but I definitely make a difference when I'm on the ice. I have played C level hockey, all the way up to AAA. I traveled to Lake Placid to play in a AAA tournament and attended a summer camp in my Mother's home country of Canada. Playing for various programs, styles, coaches, and teams has made me into a well rounded player who can adapt to any environment. I can play offense or defense, although more coaches put me into an offensive position. I'm open to playing whatever position a coach needs me to play.
Academically I do well, and enjoy research, science, math and physical education. I have to apply myself much more in classes with a lot of reading and writing assignments. I am very inquisitive, with a high "need to know" and I am high energy.
In addition to hockey, I play golf, participate in 48 mile road bike courses and have mastered riding a 6 foot "giraffe" unicycle.
I thank you for any consideration, and look forward to speaking with you about how I can best add value to your program.
