Matthew Lockwood '12 Recruiting Profile

I am a hockey player from Bowie, Maryland and have been since 1999. I am a first line center on both my high school team, Archbishop Spalding High School, and Midget AA level hockey with the Navy Youth Hockey Association. I weigh 155 pounds and am 5 foot 9 inches.  I give 110 percent everytime I hit the ice. With almost 80 goals in the past 3 seasons I find that scoring is my niche. I have almost as many assists as goals which also mean I can contribute to my teams scoring all around by finding the open man.  I also know how to throw my weight around and though not exceptionally big, I can hold my own. I  do however, enjoy scoring much more than putting some one through the boards.  Hockey is my passion and I could not imagine it not being a part of my life.

In my search for a college, I find that I am open to any school and will take my time to look at what every induvidual school has to offer.  I currently have a GPA of 3.2 and work as hard in the classroom as I do on the ice.  I can honestly say I do not have a preference of school size but I am looking for a school in an urban area.  Playing hockey in college is one of my top goals not just out of high school but in life. Being a part of the 2012 graduating class, I plan on attending  college next year.  I realize how important this process is and look forward to the possibility of playing ice hockey at a level that would challenge as well as bring out the best in me.  I love this sport and want to continue playing until I can't play anymore.
