Jett Jackson '21 Recruiting Profile

I first started playing hockey when I turned 5.  I began skating at 18 months.  Instantly I fell in love with hockey.  Growing up for almost  9 years in South Mississippi was challenging to find ice hockey, traveling almost 3-5 hrs one way every weekend to play for a travel team in Georgia or Florida.  Moving to Maryland had it challenges too, new friends, schools, and new type of hockey.  I was worried at first if I could do it.   My determination to play didn't stop me. I have played 3.5 seasons for the Southern Maryland Sabres helping my team on to a 14-1-1 season my 1st year, and last year obtaining a 2nd place championship. This year I stepped up my confidence level and joined the travel program only to be thrown into a Elite Prospect League playing again alot of really good players from within the east coast.  Over the summer I joined the summer league high school team and played in approximately 16 games to end up being the 4th leading scorer and racked up 10 assists.  The challenges of travel and late night practices can be extremely difficult, as a 8th grader I had elected to take all honors classes and maintained a 3.8 gpa the whole year.  I was also awarded the United States of America Presidental Award for Academic Excellence.  This year in high school  again I chose to take all honors classes and have decided to join the JROTC at my school.  I plan on playing hockey in college and look forward to any opportunities I can to accomplish this.  My love for the sport is ongoing. I work hard on my time off from the rink by doing various fitness regiments and conditioning or out in the driveway stick handling and shooting on the nets.  When time allows I go to stick and shoot and get the ice under my feet. My determination and hard work will hopefully excell me unto my future and I look forward to any chances to show my skills and become a dominate player in my division and sport.
