Nathan Goecks '13 Recruiting Profile

Playing college golf and obtaining a quality education has been a goal of mine since my freshman year. Hard work, determination, and dedication are words that define my character and commitment to my goals. Excelling in school is extremely important to me as I have a 4.11 GPA and have scored 33 on the ACT. I have completed four AP exams and scored 4 or 5 on each and am taking 2 more AP courses my senior year. My time management skills have allowed me to pursue this aggressive college prep schedule while also focusing on improving my golf game. My handicap has dropped 2 strokes in the past year and 8 strokes in the past 3 years to +1.1, while also playing in tournaments of regional and national focus (AJGA, MAJGT). I love the competitive nature of golf and will continue to work to strengthen my game through a diligent practice regimen as I have not yet met my goals. Since it is early in my golf career, I believe I have a strong upside for a college program as there is untapped golf potential and opportunity for improvement in my game. I believe my best golf is still to come. While my dream is to play professionally, there will be life after golf at some point and it is important I have a college degree to put myself in the best possible situation when that time comes.
