I believe I am an unusual golf success story.
I actually began golfing the summer before my freshman year of high school. My goal, at first, was to become good enough to make the team. I worked with a private coach and practiced for 5-6 hours a day. Once I made the JV team my freshman year, I realized I could go as far as I wanted. So, my next goal was to make varsity. I made that my sophomore year. Now, I have my sights set on playing college golf.
I have poured an enormous amount of effort, in a short amount of time, and have met my goals. I believe this shows my drive, my work ethic and my perseverance. I continue to work with a private coach in addition to my high school coaches. I am extremely coachable and one of the hardest working, if not THE hardest working, golfer you'll find.
I am successful in my academic endeavors as well. I maintain a high GPA and have received several awards and honors. I am a leader both on and off the course. My most recent honor was being elected president of TSA. I also won a state award for a year long project I created for TSA. One award I truly treasure was the Trustee Award of Excellence from my school. I have been a member of the National Honor Society. Last year I received an award for academic excellence at our end of the year golf awards banquet.
I would like to find a college that is challenging to me both on and off the course. I am interested in exploring any and all options in order to make my dream of playing golf come true. I hope to be successful in becoming a leader and meeting my goals while making my family proud.
