Zachary Cruz '10 Recruiting Profile

My name is Zachary Cruz. I am currently a senior at Carrizo Springs High School. I have been playing golf since i was 7 years old. My father took me to play golf when i was little and i got hooked on the sport ever since. It is a huge dream of mine to play college golf. I believe the hard work i put into my golf game will pay off for me. I am at my home course practicing everyday after school and on weekends. I practice for about 4 hours during school days and 7 hours during weekends. I recently won the Club Championship at my home course of Carrizo Springs, Tx. My goals are to play as a freshmen at a great college. I would like to play at the highest level of competition possible, because i believe if you wanna be the best, you have to beat the best. Making an impact on a team is a main goal for me. Freshman of the year would be so sweet! I am open to different type of schools to be honest. I just want to play the sport I love in college and make a HUGE impact on the team. I really think you can benefit from me, I was a co-captian my freshmen year, and captain the next 3 years of high school. I was a Regional qualifier my sophomore and junior year. At my high school we really do not have a golf coach to teach us. He is a the head basketball coach and they had asked him if he could coach golf and he agreed. Although his lack in knowledge of the game of golf, he is great at arranging tournaments for the me. While i attend college i plan on persuing my degree in biochemistry or Architecture, still alittle undecided but i will soon narrow it down. The term Student-Athlete is a important part to playing golf for me, because student comes before the athlete. My priorites in college will be grades first, then golf, for without good grades, i would not have the privilege to play golf in college.
